Self-Organizing Universe (Part 1)

Image
Two philosophical approaches to understanding the nature of consciousness in the universe predominate: panpsychism in which consciousness is conceived as pervading the universe at all levels, and emergentism in which consciousness is understood to arise from the universe when the universe becomes sufficiently complex (and organized in such a way) to produce it. Of course, each of these categories subdivides into still more nuanced versions and perspectives. Where emergentism is concerned, particularly, there is the obvious stance that it is the nervous system, or perhaps the brain in particular, that represents the complexity and organization necessary to create consciousness; however, other perspectives suggest that it is not the brain per se, or even nervous systems in general that are required, but that life in its most basic form, i.e. the cell, is sufficient and necessary for rudimentary forms of consciousness. This emergentist perspective immediately calls to mind the terminology...

The Science Of Consciousness (Part 3)

Image
Consciousness is the basis for both human and extraterrestrial existence and is therefore the foundation for unity and communication between the various people of the universe. Beliefs may vary, biological processes may vary, assorted capacities may vary, social systems and technology may vary – but the simple thread of conscious intelligence which runs through all peoples elegantly weaves our unity. This essential unity is not subject to the trials of diversity, for it is pure, immutable and fundamental to the existence of intelligent life itself. The challenges of establishing unity among the peoples of the universe is a grand extension of the challenge of establishing unity and peace among the people of the earth. Diversity, distinction and differences must be met with mutual respect, acceptance and even celebration, while the deeper foundations of unity are held steadily in view. The eye of oneness does not exclude or reject the diversity among peoples, but relates this diversity t...

The Science Of Consciousness (Part 2)

Image
Is there such a thing as higher consciousness? For a tiny fraction of the population who believe they have experienced God directly, this is a spiritual question with a definite answer. But for most people the question is hypothetical. Every spiritual tradition has asserted that there is a hidden reality which can be uncovered through transcending -- or going beyond -- the five senses. There are elaborate directions for accomplishing this leap, in the form of prayer, meditation, renunciation, and faith -- the religious history of humankind has never stopped directing its aspirations to a higher plane. But everyday life consumes our attention, and in a skeptical age the erosion of belief makes higher consciousness seem very far away if not irrelevant. On a separate track, or so it seems, quantum physics has altered the universe in radical ways. Solid matter has been reduced to invisible waves existing in a field of mathematical probabilities. Time and space form a background in which re...

The Science Of Consciousness (Part 1)

Image
Dr. Steven Greer explores how the consciousness field manifests the physical body, not the other way around. Find out why interacting at the speed of thought, not through technology, is the form of communication of the future and why humanity needs to understand the science of consciousness in order to reach the stars and connect with beings from higher realms. As Erwin Schrödinger stated, the total number of minds in the universe is one. This single mind of consciousness, once experienced, can be used to see remote places. In the case of advanced extraterrestrial civilizations whose communications technologies are interfacing with consciousness and thought, one can connect to them, guide them and show them a specific location. Dr. Steven Greer is one of the world’s foremost authorities on the subject of UFOs, extraterrestrial intelligence and technologies, and initiating peaceful contact with interstellar civilizations. For over 30 years, Dr. Greer has provided briefings for senior go...

Why Do We Dream?

Image
The question of why we dream has fascinated philosophers and scientists for thousands of years. Despite scientific inquiry into the function of dreams, we still don't have a solid answer for why we do it. While much remains uncertain about dreaming, many experts have developed theories about the purpose of dreams, with new empirical research providing greater clarity. Dreams Process Information According to the activation-synthesis model of dreaming, which was first proposed by J. Allan Hobson and Robert McCarley, circuits in the brain become activated during REM sleep, which triggers the amygdala and hippocampus to create an array of electrical impulses. This results in a compilation of random thoughts, images, and memories that appear while dreaming. When we wake, our active minds pull together the various images and memory fragments of the dream to create a cohesive narrative. Dreams Aid In Memory According to the information-processing theory, sleep allows us to consolidate and...

The idea that the brain could be constantly busy is not new. An early proponent of that notion was Hans Berger, inventor of the familiar electroencephalogram, which records electrical activity in the brain with a set of wavy lines on a graph. In seminal papers on his findings, published in 1929, Berger deduced from the ceaseless electrical oscillations detected by the device that “we have to assume that the central nervous system is always, and not only during wakefulness, in a state of considerable activity". Over the years, however, others became curious about what was happening when someone was simply resting and just letting the mind wander. This interest arose from a set of hints from various studies that suggested the extent of this behind-the-scenes activity. One clue came from mere visual inspections of the images. The pictures showed that areas in many regions of the brain were quite busy in both the test and the control conditions. In part because of this shared backgrou...

The Palette Of Being

Image
Because all of us are born into this life having available to us the experiences of humanity that has come so far. We typically are only able to paint with the patterns of thoughts and the ways of being that existed before. So if the piano and the way of playing it is a way of being, this is a way of being that didn’t exist for people 5,000 years ago. It was a colour in the 'Palette of Being' that you couldn’t paint with. Nowadays if you are born, you can actually learn the skill; you can learn to be a computer scientist, another colour that was not available just a couple hundred years ago. And our lives are really beautiful for the following reason. We’re born into this life. We have the ability to go make this unique painting with the colours of being that are around us at the point of our birth. But in the process of life, we also have the unique opportunity to create a new colour. And that might come from the invention of a new thing: A self-driving car; a piano; a compute...
